Creating Better Surfaces, Building Better Spaces.

EPDM Flooring System for Seamless Wet-Pour Surfaces

Wet-pour EPDM rubber flooring systems combine colored EPDM surface layers, cushioning materials and PU binders to create seamless surfaces for playgrounds, sports areas, recreational spaces and landscape projects.

What Is a Wet-Pour EPDM Flooring System?

Wet-pour rubber flooring is a resilient surfacing system mixed and installed on site. EPDM granules are combined with a compatible polyurethane binder, laid over a prepared base, leveled and finished to the required height, and cured to form a continuous, seamless surface. The system is suitable for playgrounds, schools, parks, recreational areas and selected sports facilities, while allowing flexible layouts with curves, custom graphics and irregular boundaries.

Plan the EPDM Flooring System Before Installation

Before installation begins, confirm the substrate condition, system build-up, layer thicknesses, drainage and finished levels, material quantities, and color or layout requirements. Early planning helps align the materials, site conditions and installation details before work starts.

Substrate & Site Conditions

Confirm that the base is stable, level, dry, clean and suitable for the planned flooring system.

System Build-Up & Thickness

Confirm the layer structure and planned thickness of each part of the flooring system.

Levels, Drainage & Boundaries

Review finished levels, gradients, drainage, perimeter edges and transitions to surrounding surfaces.

Materials & Quantities

Confirm EPDM, cushioning materials, PU binder, primer and preliminary quantities before installation.

Color, Layout & Material Preparation

Confirm colors, graphics, layout, material condition and batch consistency before work begins.

EPDM Wet-Pour Flooring Installation Process

With extensive experience in EPDM flooring systems, Rubflo follows a structured installation process to help achieve consistent performance and finish quality. From substrate preparation and material mixing to surface installation and custom pattern finishing, every stage is carefully managed to create reliable wet-pour surfaces for playgrounds, sports facilities and public spaces.

Apply Primer & Prepare the Substrate

Apply a suitable primer or interface coating to the prepared substrate surface. This helps seal surface pores, improve adhesion and create a stable foundation for the EPDM flooring system.

02

Install the Cushion Layer (Optional)

For systems requiring additional impact protection, rubber granules are mixed with PU binder and installed as an elastic base layer. The material is evenly spread, compacted and finished to achieve the required thickness and surface consistency.

Install the EPDM Surface Layer

EPDM granules are blended with PU binder and carefully installed as the finished surface layer. Professional application ensures even particle distribution, consistent color appearance and a seamless surface finish.

04

Complete Edge & Detail Finishing

Special attention is given to edges, corners, drainage channels and other detailed areas to ensure a clean and durable installation. Expansion joints are incorporated and sealed where required based on project conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions About EPDM Flooring Systems

A typical wet-pour EPDM flooring system includes a prepared concrete or asphalt base, primer or sealer, an optional elastic layer, and a colored EPDM wearing course bonded with polyurethane binder. Edge finishing, joints and curing requirements are also planned as part of the complete system.

Localized damage can generally be repaired by removing the affected area and installing compatible replacement material. The repair method should be selected according to the condition of the existing surface and the original system structure.

Yes. Rubflo can provide installation references covering substrate preparation, primer application, material mixing, elastic layer installation, EPDM surface installation, detailing, curing and other key construction steps.

No. An elastic or cushioning base layer is used only where the project requires additional resilience, impact attenuation or system thickness. The appropriate layer structure and material should be selected according to the application and project requirements.

The installation area should remain closed until the flooring system has fully cured. Actual curing conditions depend on the selected PU binder, environmental conditions and system structure, so the relevant technical instructions should always be followed.

Wet-pour EPDM flooring is commonly installed over properly prepared concrete or asphalt bases. The substrate should be sound, level, dry and clean, with loose material, oil contamination, hollow areas and other defects corrected before installation.
